About Ingham Whinn
For walkers, this works brilliantly. The paths are straightforward enough that kids won't grumble after twenty minutes, but there's enough woodland to justify a proper hour's ramble if you want one. The forest floor is soft underfoot most of the time, which beats trudging on exposed paths. You'll see the occasional bit of wildlife if you're patient - woodland birds mainly, and the trees themselves are worth a proper look if you're into that sort of thing.
It's free to access and there's no admission gate that I could find, so you just turn up and walk. Best visited during autumn when the light filters through nicely, or spring when the undergrowth isn't utterly overgrown. Summer can be a bit thick and damp underfoot.
If you're staying at one of the holiday parks nearby - Maustin Park or Rudding Holiday Park are closest at under two miles - this makes an excellent morning or late-afternoon stroll to break up the day. It's not a destination in itself, but combined with Wetherby's market square or a walk along the river, it rounds out a decent day's outing without any fuss.
