But call it a nature reserve and you're stretching things. What you've actually got is the corner where Hyde Park meets Knightsbridge, dominated by the Wellington Arch and the Household Cavalry Museum, with green space playing second fiddle to the relentless hum of central London.

If you're after genuine wildlife spotting or tranquil woodland walks, you're in the wrong place. This is more about urban history than nature - the arch itself, completed in 1828, is worth a look if you fancy climbing inside for views across the city. The Household Cavalry Museum tells the story of the mounted guards you see on parade, and that's genuinely interesting if military heritage grabs you.

For families with young children expecting a park experience, it's disappointing. The area's too congested, too loud, and too focused on monuments rather than green space. Walkers and history buffs will find more rewarding territory in the actual parks - St James's Park is minutes away and infinitely more pleasant. If you're staying at Lovat Parks just down the road, there's no compelling reason to make Hyde Park Corner a destination in itself. It's somewhere you pass through on your way to somewhere better, not somewhere you plan your afternoon around. Worth a five-minute stop if you're curious about the arch, but don't sacrifice real park time for it.
