Just outside Horsham, Huxley's is a straightforward zoo experience that works best if you've got young kids in tow and a couple of hours to spare. The setup is fairly standard - animals in enclosures, some interactive feeding opportunities, and the usual zoo gift shop at the exit. It's not going to blow your mind with conservation credentials or rare species, but it does the job as a half-day outing when the weather's decent.

For families based at any of the nearby campsites - Raylands Country Park is closest at just over two miles away - it slots in nicely alongside a Sussex countryside break. The sites at Sands Farm and Sumners Ponds are within easy reach too, making Huxley's a viable rainy-day activity or morning visit before heading elsewhere. Teenagers and keen naturalists will likely find it a bit underwhelming, honestly. You're looking at maybe ninety minutes to two hours maximum before you've seen everything.
