Hood Park

You won't find crowds at Hood Park, and that's precisely why it's worth the drive from Swadlincote. This nature reserve sits quietly on the Leicestershire side of the border, a proper slice of woodland and wetland that feels genuinely separate from everyday life.

The park itself is a working landscape - you're walking through genuine habitat rather than something landscaped for tourists. Paths meander through mature trees and across boggy ground where dragonflies hover in summer. Bird watchers absolutely rate it here; bring binoculars and you'll spot things you won't see in manicured parks.
