Holy Trinity

The moment you push open the heavy wooden doors of Holy Trinity in Coventry, you're stepping into seven centuries of English religious life. This is the church where medieval merchants once knelt, where the city's wool wealth translated into soaring stone and stained glass. The interior hits you with its sheer verticality - those pillars just keep going up, and the light coming through the windows does something genuinely moving to the space.

What strikes most visitors first is the window glass itself. Some of it's original medieval work, though much was meticulously restored after the Blitz. You'll find yourself lingering longer than expected, picking out details in the tracery and the carved roof bosses. The chancel and nave proportions feel generous rather than cramped, and there's actual room to breathe and look around properly.

History enthusiasts will get the most from a visit here - this isn't a church that shouts about itself, so you need to read the boards and notices to grasp what you're looking at. Kids will manage twenty minutes or so if they're interested in old buildings, but it's not a playground. Give yourself a good half-hour minimum if you're taking this seriously.
