The moment you step inside Holy Trinity Church in Southport, you're confronted with the kind of Victorian Gothic that makes you understand why the Victorians were so obsessed with height and light. The soaring nave pulls your eye upward, and the stained glass does that thing stained glass does best - turns an ordinary Tuesday afternoon into something holy.

It's a proper working parish church, which means you'll get the real deal: actual services, actual worshippers, actual peace and quiet. Not some museum-piece attraction with velvet ropes and a gift shop. The craftsmanship throughout is genuinely impressive - the stonework, the woodcarving, the way the light hits things at certain times of day. You can spend twenty minutes here or an hour, depending on whether you're the type to sit in the pews and contemplate, or just want to tick the architectural box.

Historically minded visitors will appreciate the layers - the church has that satisfying feel of somewhere that's been cared for and used continuously.
