Holy Trinity

The church sits on the high street in March like it's been holding its breath for centuries. Holy Trinity is one of those proper medieval spaces where you can actually feel the weight of time - the kind of place that stops you mid-sentence because suddenly you're aware of all the footsteps that have come before yours.

It's a Perpendicular Gothic building, all soaring angles and light pouring through the windows, and the interior is surprisingly spacious. The craftsmanship in the woodwork and the stonework pays off if you take a moment to actually look upward rather than just shuffle through on autopilot. The font alone is worth a photograph.

History buffs will find themselves anchored here for a good twenty minutes or so, but if you're touring with kids who fidget, it's the kind of stop you do quickly between other plans. There's no visitor centre or café attached, so don't expect to linger with a cuppa.

Perfect as part of a broader wander around March's centre, and it makes a natural waypoint if you're based at Knightsbridge Caravan and Marina Park just down the road. The town's got enough pubs and shops that you can make an afternoon of it without too much faffing about. Entry's free - these parish churches usually are - and you can pop in during daylight hours, though it's worth checking opening times locally before making the trip. Early morning or late afternoon light does it particular justice.
