You'll find HiTECHNICIANS at Boomtown Fair, the annual music and arts festival that transforms a corner of Hampshire into something genuinely unlike anywhere else in the UK. It's an interactive art installation and performance space where the line between spectator and participant blurs completely. Expect mechanical contraptions, experimental theatre, installations you can actually climb into, and live performances that'll make you question what a festival experience can be.

This is squarely aimed at adults and older teens who aren't after a passive experience. If you're the sort who'd rather stand around a bar, this won't be your scene. But if you want to get properly involved in weird, brilliant creativity, you'll spend hours just wandering and discovering. The whole thing is utterly mad in the best way.

Boomtown Fair itself runs once a year, usually in August, so timing is everything. Admission comes with your festival ticket, which isn't cheap - you're looking at festival pricing. Allow a good few hours minimum, though honestly you could spend a full day here and barely scratch the surface.

Winchester's only about four miles away, which is handy for supplies. If you're staying locally, The Spinney Caravan Park and Hookpit Farm are both solid options within a short drive. HiTECHNICIANS works as a proper centrepiece to a festival weekend rather than a standalone attraction - you're really committing to the Boomtown experience. If experimental art and interactive theatre aren't your thing, it's not worth the effort.
