Hill of Tornahaish

You won't find crowds at Hill of Tornahaish, which is precisely why it's worth the trip from Strathdon. This is proper Aberdeenshire hill walking - a steep climb that rewards you with views across the Highlands that feel genuinely remote. The peak itself is modest in height but big on character, offering panoramic sightlines over moorland and distant mountains that shift colour depending on the light.

Walkers and outdoor enthusiasts will get the most from this one. It's not a casual stroll - the ascent is fairly relentless and the terrain demands proper boots and attention. But the sense of achievement once you're up there, standing alone in the wind with nothing but heather and sky around you, justifies every tough step. On a clear day, you're looking at a solid two to three hours round trip depending on fitness.
