Hill of Greenstile

The climb up Hill of Greenstile is proper straightforward - it's not a technical slog, just a solid hill walk in Aberdeenshire that rewards you with the kind of view that makes the effort feel worth it. You get the Cairngorms spreading out across the horizon, and on a clear day, the visibility is genuinely impressive. Most people tackle it from Strathdon as their base, which sits just down the road and gives you easy access to the trailhead.

It's the sort of walk that takes a couple of hours up and down, depending on your pace. Not steep enough to knacker most reasonably fit people, but steep enough that you'll feel like you've done something by the time you reach the top. Families with older kids will manage it fine; those with pushchairs should probably look elsewhere.
