Highden Beeches

The beech trees at Highden are proper old growth, the sort that make you crane your neck back and feel immediately small. This is genuine woodland walking country just outside Pulborough in Sussex - no manicured paths or visitor centres, just forest floor and the smell of leaf mould after rain.

Autumn is obviously glorious - the leaf colour is genuinely exceptional - but winter brings its own stripped-back beauty.
