Hetton le Hill Wood

The woodland around Hetton le Hill sits just south of Durham, and it's the sort of place you stumble across rather than plan for. Ancient mixed woodland with proper walking trails that feel genuinely removed from the city, even though Durham's only a few miles away. The paths wind through beech and oak with decent views across the valley when you reach the higher sections.

It's ideal for families wanting to burn off energy without the crowds of more famous Durham attractions.
