The woodland around Haynall sits proper quiet, the kind of place where you actually hear birdsong instead of yourself thinking about emails. The walks here aren't dramatic or famous, which is precisely why they're worth doing. You get a genuine sense of the landscape without the crowds you'd find at better-known spots.

Walkers will find genuine pleasure in the footpaths that cut through. The terrain is gentle enough that families with younger kids won't spend the whole time fielding complaints, though there are sections that get muddy after rain - proper squelchy. Allow a couple of hours for a decent circuit, or you can duck in for 45 minutes if you're just after some air. Spring's when it's best, when the woodland floor comes alive, but it's solid any time of year.

It's close enough to Ludlow to combine with the town's independent shops and decent restaurants, but far enough away that it feels genuinely remote.
