About Hawk Hill
What you get at the summit is the thing: on a clear day, you're looking out towards Edinburgh and the Forth bridges, and south towards East Lothian. On a grey day, it's considerably less inspiring. The hill itself is modest by Scottish standards, but that's rather the point. This is a halfway-decent ramble for families who want to cover ground without committing to something proper mountainous, and for locals it's the obvious Saturday morning outing.
If you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Pettycur Bay is closest at just over three miles away - Hawk Hill slots in nicely as a half-day excursion. Bring waterproof jackets; the Fife coast has a habit of turning dreich without warning. The footpath is accessible year-round, and there's parking in Burntisland itself, though it fills up on weekends.
It's not flashy, and it won't take your breath away for all the right reasons, but it's the sort of local hill that does exactly what it says on the tin. Well worth the walk if you're in the area.
