Hall Plantation

You'll find yourself walking under proper tall conifers the moment you enter Hall Plantation, just east of Glamping in Norfolk. The trees are dense and the canopy thick enough that even on a bright day it feels almost twilight in there. It's woodland in the truest sense - not a theme park forest with marked trails and interpretive boards, just paths winding through the trees with the occasional shaft of light breaking through.

The plantation works best for walkers who actually enjoy a quiet tramp through woodland rather than those after a destination with views or facilities. There's something genuinely peaceful about it, especially midweek when you might have the place entirely to yourself. Kids will get a decent hour out of it, maybe ninety minutes if they're into climbing fallen logs and collecting pine cones, but it's not the sort of place to keep them entertained for a full afternoon.

If you're staying at one of the local holiday parks - Parkdean Resorts Manor Park is just five miles away, as is Searles Leisure Resort or Wild Luxury's glamping site - Hall Plantation makes for a solid morning walk before heading back for lunch. The woodland is free to roam and there's no entrance fee to worry about. Admission details are a bit vague online, so best to check locally when you arrive. Go when the weather's decent; it can feel rather gloomy and muddy after rain. It's not a must-do attraction by any means, but if you're based nearby and want a proper forest walk without driving miles, it does the job.
