If you're based at either Rosneath Castle Caravan Park or Stoneymollan up by Loch Lomond, Helensburgh makes a reasonable half-day excursion. The town itself has a decent seafront and some decent period villas worth admiring on the walk down from the church. Don't travel specially for the church alone - combine it with exploring the Clyde coastline or using it as a pit stop between Loch Lomond and the water. It's worth the diversion if you're already in the area, but it won't keep you occupied if the weather turns.
