Gourdon Pier

You'll round the corner near Stonehaven and suddenly the pier is there - a proper Victorian structure jutting into the North Sea like someone's refused to back down from the waves. Families with older kids enjoy it, though there's not much to actually do if you're expecting an attraction in the modern sense. This is observation and atmosphere rather than activities.

The pier itself is free to access, and there's no formal opening hours - you turn up when you like. Bring a windproof jacket because the North Sea wind doesn't mess about. It pairs well with a stay at nearby St Cyrus Holiday Park or Cloak Caravan Park, both within a few miles. Use it as a morning wander before heading inland to bigger draws, or swing by on the drive down the coast. Honest and unpretentious - exactly what a working harbour should be.
