Walking into Goltho Woods and finding the Woodhenge installation feels like stumbling upon someone's ambitious art project rather than a polished tourist attraction - which is precisely what makes it worth the trip from Lincoln. It's a contemporary take on the prehistoric monument concept, built from timber and set within proper woodland, and it works better than you'd expect for something constructed relatively recently.

The structure itself commands attention without being showy. You can walk around it, through it, sit beneath it. There's something about experiencing art in a wood that grounds it differently than a gallery setting would. Kids find it genuinely interesting rather than being dragged along to look at paintings, and walkers appreciate that it gives them a defined destination.

Bringing the caravan? Langdale Lakes and Seven Acre Farm Campsite are both within four miles, making this an easy morning or afternoon outing without breaking camp.
