Golden Wall

Limestone cliffs catch the morning light here with a golden glow that earned this Gower viewpoint its name. The Golden Wall stands as a dramatic slice of rock face between Oxwich Bay and Three Cliffs Bay, accessible via a coastal path that winds through dune grass and wild flowers.

Getting there requires a decent walk from the nearest car park - about 20 minutes along an uneven coastal track that can get muddy after rain. Worth the effort though. The view stretches across Oxwich Bay to the south and takes in some of the Gower's most spectacular coastline.

Photographers love this spot, particularly in the late afternoon when the setting sun turns the limestone face into something properly golden. Families with older children will manage the walk fine, but it's not buggy-friendly terrain. Dog walkers seem to favour this route too, though keep leads handy near the cliff edge.

The wall itself is part of the Carboniferous limestone that defines much of the Gower Peninsula. Geology buffs will spot fossils embedded in the rock face, while the rest of us can simply admire how the stone changes colour throughout the day.

If you're staying at Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park or Oxwich Camping Park, this makes a cracking morning or evening walk. Allow an hour return from the nearest access point, longer if you want to combine it with exploring the beaches below.
