Golden Royal Mail Post Box (Andy Murray)

There's a gold post box just sitting on the street in Dunblane, and yes, it's real. Royal Mail actually painted it gold to honour Andy Murray after he won Wimbledon in 2013, making him Britain's first male singles champion in 77 years. It's on the corner near the town centre - the kind of thing you'd walk past a dozen times and suddenly notice.

Honestly, it's a five-minute stop at best. You take a photo, maybe post a postcard if you're that way inclined, and move on. But if you're already in the area - and Dunblane's worth a proper look anyway - it's worth the detour. The town itself has a lovely High Street and some good spots to eat, so combine it with an actual wander rather than making a special trip.

It works well as part of a wider Perthshire loop. Craighead Howf caravan park sits just 4.3 miles away and is excellent if you're basing yourself here for a few days. From there you can get proper walking in, visit Stirling Castle, or head towards the Trossachs. The post box is just the quirky local touch - the kind of thing that makes a holiday feel lived-in rather than rushed.

Go when you're in the area. Don't plan your whole trip around it.
