Go Ape Crawley is an outdoor adventure course set within woodland, where you swing between trees on rope bridges, zip lines, and climbing challenges. It's the sort of place where adrenaline junkies actually earn their breakfast - there's nothing gentle about it. You're harnessed in properly, which matters when you're dangling twenty feet up. The courses range from beginner to advanced, so families with older kids (usually from around age ten upwards) get proper value here, though younger children might find it intimidating rather than thrilling.

You'll need a couple of hours minimum, longer if you're cautious or keen to tackle multiple difficulty levels. It's not cheap - expect to pay for adults and children separately - but the staff know what they're doing and the safety briefing is thorough without being tedious. The woodland setting beats indoor adventure parks hands down: proper fresh air, actual trees you're genuinely navigating rather than artificial structures.

From Haywards Heath, it's straightforward to reach. The glamping options at Worth Forest (2.2 miles away) and Sunset Tree Camping (4 miles) both score well and would round out a decent outdoor break nicely. If you're camping nearby and want to break up the stay with something active rather than just walking, this delivers. Pack a packed lunch and leave the afternoon free rather than rushing through - you'll enjoy it properly that way. Fair warning though: it's not for anyone with genuine heights phobia, and you'll probably have sore hands afterwards.
