Glenisla Picnic Site

The River Isla winds through a proper valley here, and Glenisla Picnic Site is where you actually want to stop and sit for a bit. There's nothing fancy about it - a handful of tables, some parking, and trees that do a decent job of sheltering you when the Highland wind picks up. In summer it's genuinely lovely, with the river running alongside and the kind of quiet you don't get anywhere near Blairgowrie town centre.

Walkers will get the most out of this spot. There are paths that head up into the glen - nothing brutal, just proper woodland trails where you can stretch your legs for half an hour or two hours depending on what you're after. Families with younger kids will find it manageable enough for a picnic stop between other activities, though there's not much to entertain them once the sandwiches are gone. History types won't find plaques or interpretive boards, but the setting itself tells you something about how the land was shaped.

It's free, naturally, and you can rock up whenever. Allow twenty minutes if you're just grabbing a table and a cuppa, longer if you fancy a walk. The nearby glamping at Glenshee and Nethercraig Holiday Park make sense as a base - you could have Glenisla as a quiet morning stop before heading to busier attractions elsewhere. Bit steep to call it a destination on its own, but if you're in Perthshire anyway, it's well worth knowing about.
