Glas Beinn

The walk up Glas Beinn is straightforward enough, but the views from the top are what make it worthwhile. You're looking out across Loch Alsh toward the Isle of Skye, and on a clear day the visibility is genuinely impressive. It's not a technical climb - most people manage it without breaking much of a sweat, though the path can be boggy underfoot depending on the season.

This is a proper hill-walker's outing rather than a casual stroll. Allow a solid two hours for the round trip from Kyle of Lochalsh, where the nearest facilities are. The reward is a 650-metre summit with the kind of perspective that makes the effort feel justified. You'll see Plockton nestled below, and the Trotternish Ridge across the water on Skye dominates the horizon. Winter visits are possible but the track becomes considerably rougher.
