Glan Pibwr Stream Section

The Glan Pibwr Stream Section is a modest but rewarding stretch of water that cuts through the Carmarthenshire countryside just outside Carmarthen. It's the sort of place locals know about and tourists tend to miss - which is rather the point. The stream itself is nothing dramatic, but walk its banks and you'll find yourself properly off the beaten track, with steep wooded sides and the kind of quiet that makes you remember why you came to Wales in the first place.

It works best for walkers who don't need mountains or waterfalls to justify their boots. If you're based at one of the nearby campsites - Church House Farm is closest at just over two miles away - this gives you a gentle option for an afternoon ramble. The stream sections are good for spotting birds and getting a sense of actual rural life rather than tourist-board Wales. Kids might find it dull if they're expecting an adventure playground, but older ones who like spotting wildlife or just mucking about in water will be fine.

There's no visitor centre or facilities that we can identify, so come prepared with water and snacks. Allow an hour or two depending on how far you fancy walking. Best visited outside peak holiday times when you'll have the whole thing to yourself. It's free to access, which is the one brilliant thing about it. Not Instagram-worthy, but that's entirely the appeal.
