Gibbet Hill

The walk up Gibbet Hill near Okehampton rewards you with proper moorland views across Dartmoor, though the name's far grimmer than the experience itself. It's not a lengthy slog - most people manage it in under an hour from the car park - but the climb is steady enough to get your legs working. The summit gives you clear sightlines across the moor, and on a decent day you'll spot other tors dotting the landscape like stone sentinels.
