Gaydon Coppice

You'll find Gaydon Coppice a proper slice of working woodland just a few miles south of Leamington Spa - the sort of place locals know but tourists miss entirely. It's a mixed forest with the feel of something genuinely lived-in rather than manicured, with paths threading through mature trees and plenty of room to wander without bumping into crowds.

This is walker terrain, primarily. The coppice works well as a half-hour stroll or a longer ramble depending on your mood and fitness. Families with young kids might find an hour here enough before restlessness kicks in - it's not dramatically scenic or dramatic, just quietly pleasant. If you're into woodland ecology or photography, though, you could easily spend a couple of hours picking your way through the different sections.

The nearest facilities are back in Leamington Spa, so come prepared with drinks and snacks. There's no visitor centre or obvious infrastructure here, which is rather refreshing actually. Access appears to be free, though you should check locally for any seasonal restrictions.

If you're basing yourself at Harbury Fields Farm or one of the other caravan parks in the area, Gaydon Coppice makes a straightforward morning walk before heading elsewhere. It's not a destination in itself - more a useful addon to a broader Warwickshire ramble. The woodland does its job without fuss, which is exactly what you want from somewhere this close to a market town.
