A proper 18-hole course that sits just outside Ipswich, Fynn Valley Golf Club is the sort of place golfers drift toward when they're based at one of the nearby holiday parks for a week. The course winds through rolling Suffolk countryside - nothing dramatic, but honest green fairways that demand accuracy rather than brute force.

This is squarely for golfers. Non-players will find little to do here beyond watching from the clubhouse with a coffee. The layout suits mid-to-high handicappers more than beginners or scratch players, and you'll want to book in advance rather than just turning up. Most rounds take about four hours, so budget a morning or afternoon accordingly.

If you're staying at Secret Meadows Glamping or Moon & Sixpence just down the road, it's a convenient way to fill a day without travelling far. The same applies for any of the caravan parks within a few miles - Stonham Barns and Steadings Park are close enough that you could easily nip over. It's not the most visually stunning course in East Anglia, but the greens are well-maintained and it rarely feels crowded.
