The climb up Fron-wyllt-uchaf takes about forty minutes from the base, and honestly, it's steep enough that you'll feel it in your legs. What makes the effort worthwhile is the view across Denbighshire when you reach the top - the Clwydian Range spreads out below you like someone's pulled back a curtain on proper Welsh moorland. On a clear day you can see well beyond Ruthin, the nearest town, which sits useful for supplies and a decent pub afterwards.

This is one for walkers rather than casual strollers. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of graft will get something from it, but the under-tens might grumble about the incline. The terrain's rough underfoot in places, especially when wet, so decent boots matter more than you'd think.

It's free, obviously - just park near Ruthin and make your way out. Allow a couple of hours to do it properly and not rush back down. The peak itself isn't dramatic or anything, but the isolation and the landscape make it worth the trip if you're staying in the area. If you're based at Clwydian Glamping Pods and Campsite just down the road, it's an ideal half-day walk that won't eat into your whole itinerary. Go early in the day if possible - the Welsh weather can turn fast, and you want to be off the hill before the cloud rolls in properly.
