But if you're after dramatic cliffs or sweeping vistas, look elsewhere. Hayling Island's charm is understated and watery rather than showy.

Go at low tide if you want the most walking room and the best light. Summer mornings are usually quieter than weekends. It's completely free and there's no time limit - you walk as far as you fancy and turn back. The path connects easily with the rest of the island's walking network.
