Flint Hill

The walk up Flint Hill rewards you with one of Surrey's best views, especially on a clear day when you can see right across the Weald. It's not a dramatic summit - there's no trig point or sudden peak - just a gentle rise that takes about twenty minutes from Tadworth, the nearest town. What makes it worth the effort is the perspective you get: rolling countryside stretching out in every direction, with the North Downs ridge visible to the south.

This is proper walking country, nothing too taxing. The paths are well-maintained and the whole thing can be done in an hour if you're not lingering. Families with kids aged eight and up will manage it fine. The only downside is how exposed the top can feel on windy days - there's not much shelter up there, so pick your weather.

It fits perfectly into a wider Surrey rambling trip, especially if you're based at one of the nearby parks. Henfold Lakes, just under five miles away, makes a decent base, though Cowroom Glamping is also close enough if that's more your style. From Flint Hill, you can easily loop down towards the valleys or head towards other Downs walks in the area. The views alone justify the detour, and it's the sort of walk that locals do regularly without fuss - no queues, no crowds, just quiet countryside. Bring a packed lunch and settle in for twenty minutes at the top.
