Flayed Stone III

Contemporary art in Warwickshire doesn't scream obvious draw, but Flayed Stone III - a gallery sitting within striking distance of Kenilworth - is absolutely worth the detour if you're camping nearby. The gallery focuses on sculptural and installation work with a serious edge; expect pieces that challenge rather than comfort. You'll spend a solid hour here, maybe ninety minutes if you're the type to sit with work that doesn't immediately make sense.

It's a proper haunt for anyone who actually cares about what's on the walls - not a family day-out sort of place, though older teenagers with art-focused interests might appreciate the uncompromising approach. The surrounding area is thick with decent caravan parks (Broadwell Woods is closest at under two miles, though Somers Wood and Gate Farm offer more conventional facilities), making it an excellent add-on to a longer Warwickshire circuit that includes Kenilworth Castle and the various country estates dotted around.
