Fish Pond

A small, unremarkable body of water just outside Scarborough, Fish Pond is exactly what its name suggests - nothing more, nothing less. You'll find it's more of a local spot than a destination attraction, the kind of place where dog walkers appear at regular intervals and the view changes little across the seasons.

That said, if you're camping at Prospect House Farm Glamping or any of the nearer holiday parks, it's genuinely worth a wander. The walk itself is more interesting than the pond - you'll pass through proper countryside and get a feel for what North Yorkshire looks like beyond the seaside crowds. Twenty minutes there and back, no drama.

Don't come expecting drama. This isn't Malham Tarn or anything close. It's a quiet stretch of water surrounded by fields, which some will find peaceful and others will find, well, a bit underwhelming. Families with very small children might manage fifteen minutes before asking to leave. Birdwatchers occasionally have better luck than casual visitors.

The real value is proximity - if you're based at Woodhouse Farm Holiday Park or Maustin Park, it's a gentle leg-stretch between breakfast and whatever else Scarborough's got on offer. Free, obviously. No facilities to speak of, so don't expect a café or benches. It's the countryside doing what countryside does: existing quietly, asking nothing of you except perhaps a bit of attention. Worth the detour? Only if you're already nearby.
