Fiddler's Knap

Climbing up from the Vale of Evesham, this modest hill provides surprisingly good views across the Worcestershire countryside without requiring serious hiking boots. The viewpoint sits just outside Pershore, offering a gentle walk that most families can manage comfortably. From the top, you'll get proper views over the River Avon valley and the Cotswold escarpment beyond. It's not exactly dramatic - this is gentle English countryside rather than mountain drama - but on a clear day you can pick out the Malvern Hills in the distance. The walk up takes about 20 minutes from the nearest parking, through typical farmland and hedgerows. Dog walkers seem to favour this spot, and it's easy to see why. Children might find the actual viewpoint a bit tame after the initial excitement of the climb, but there's usually space for them to run about safely at the top. Best visited in late afternoon when the light catches the valley properly. If you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Bredon View or The Springs, it makes for a pleasant morning or evening stroll. Worth combining with a trip into Pershore itself, which has some decent pubs and the abbey is worth a quick look.
