Fiddlers Green

Fiddlers Green sits just outside Fareham, a modest hilltop that doesn't demand much fanfare but rewards a quick visit if you're in the area. It's essentially a viewpoint - the sort of place where the Fareham sprawl drops away and you get sight lines across Hampshire's gentle, rolling countryside. Nothing dramatic. No clifftop vistas or sweeping panoramas. But on a clear day it's decent enough for a few minutes of breathing room during a caravan holiday.

The appeal is straightforward: walkers passing through the region sometimes stop here, and families doing the park circuit from Rookesbury Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite - just two miles down the road - occasionally wander up for the views. You won't spend more than twenty minutes here, which is fine. It's the sort of spot you'd visit as a break between other things rather than a destination in itself.

There's no obvious visitor infrastructure - no café, no car park signs, no interpretation boards telling you what you're looking at. It's just a high point with some grass. Free, obviously. Go early morning or late afternoon when the light's better and the car parks at nearby sites are quieter. If you're based at Beechen Glamping or Solent Breezes Holiday Park further afield, it's not worth the drive for this alone, but coupled with a walk around Fareham's waterfront or a proper day out, it slots in nicely enough. Don't expect fireworks.
