Ffrith Community Park

Walking into Ffrith Community Park near Rhyl, you're immediately struck by how green it all is - proper woodland and open grassland mixed together without feeling manicured or fussy. It's a nature reserve that actually feels like a reserve, not a prettified park with interpretation boards every ten metres.

The main draw here is the habitat diversity. You've got wet areas, woodland patches, and open meadows all within striking distance of each other, which means birdwatchers and wildlife photographers will find plenty to occupy themselves for a few hours. The walking is gentle and straightforward - good for families with younger kids or anyone who isn't keen on steep terrain. In spring and summer, the wildflowers can be quite good, and autumn brings in migrating birds if you time it right.

Really, this works best as a mid-morning stop rather than a full-day destination. Two hours is about right before you've seen what there is to see and fancy moving on. It's free to access, which is always welcome.
