Eversdown

The woodland around Eversdown offers a proper escape from the Thames Valley sprawl, even though it's barely four miles from Henley-on-Thames. If you're based at one of the nearby parks - SRB Moorings is closest at just over three miles - this makes a solid morning ramble without driving far. Pair it with a walk along the Thames at Henley itself or a proper day out at Stonor Park, and you've got something resembling an itinerary. The forest is free to wander, naturally, and there's no time limit to your visit - arrive early on a weekday if you want it genuinely quiet.
