About Eridge Rocks
They're worth the detour if you're into geology or just fancy scrambling about on ancient stone. The rocks themselves aren't huge - you're not talking Stonehenge scale - but they've got character, especially if the light's right. Kids will spend a good hour clambering, checking out the different angles and textures. Adults after a proper walk should allow two hours there and back from Tunbridge Wells, which is only a few miles away.
It's free and managed by Sussex Wildlife Trust, so you're not paying entrance fees. Best visited when the ground's dry - after heavy rain the paths get boggy and lose their appeal fast. Spring and autumn are ideal: less mud than winter, less scrambling crowds than summer.
If you're based at one of the glamping spots nearby - Honnington Farm or Luna Domes are within five or six miles - this works perfectly as a half-day outing before settling back for an evening fire. Combines well with other walks in the High Weald if you've got the legs for it.
