The church sits quietly on the edge of Werrington, just outside Peterborough, the sort of place you'd drive past without noticing if you weren't looking. But Emmanuel Church rewards a stop, particularly if you're camping nearby at Ferry Meadows or Nene Outdoors and fancy a walk into the village.

It's a Victorian-era church with genuine character - proper brick and stone work, nothing overly grand, which is rather the point. The interior is straightforward and calm, the kind of space where you can actually sit for five minutes without feeling rushed. If you're into ecclesiastical architecture, there's enough detail to keep you occupied; if you're not, fifteen minutes covers the lot.

Families with older kids who don't mind quiet spaces might appreciate the short walk through Werrington itself to get there. Younger children will likely get bored fast. History types and walkers planning a longer route through the village will find it a natural stopping point.

The real value is the location - it's perfectly positioned if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks and want to explore beyond the campsite. Ferry Meadows, just a few miles south, is excellent for families wanting watersports and proper facilities, while Nene Outdoors offers a smaller, quieter experience. Emmanuel Church works well as part of a morning's ramble rather than a destination in itself.
