Ednam Parish Kirk

The kirk sits quietly on the edge of Ednam, a village that most people speed through on the A6973 near Coldstream without a second glance. What makes it worth stopping for is the sheer age of the place - there's been a church on this spot since at least the 12th century, though what you see now is mostly Georgian rebuild with some older bits surviving underneath.

Inside, it's properly atmospheric. High windows flood the stone interior with northern light, and the pews creak as you walk. There's a real sense of centuries of worship happening in the same spot - the kind of thing that gets to you if you're into old churches. The churchyard outside is worth a wander too; proper old gravestones, some barely legible, dotted about under mature trees.

It's not a major tourist draw, which is partly the point. You won't queue or fight crowds. If you're staying at Coldstream Holiday Park and fancy a short drive to explore the borderlands, this works perfectly as part of a half-day potter - combine it with a walk along the Tweed nearby or a look around Coldstream itself. History buffs will appreciate it more than casual visitors, and it's the kind of place that rewards spending twenty minutes rather than five.

Access appears unrestricted, though checking locally in Coldstream first is sensible. No facilities on site.
