Earnley Viewpoint.

The view from Earnley hits you properly on a clear day - the South Downs rolling away to the north, and on your left the sweep of Chichester Harbour with its creeks and inlets catching the light. It's the sort of spot where you realise why people fight over Hampshire real estate.

Earnley itself is a tiny village just outside Chichester, and the viewpoint isn't signposted like some honeypot attraction - you have to know it's there. That's actually in its favour. You park up, maybe take five minutes to absorb the landscape, and move on. It's not somewhere to spend hours, but it's absolutely worth the short detour if you're exploring this corner of the county.

Walkers will appreciate it as a stopping point on longer routes around the harbour or out toward the Downs. Families with young kids might find it a bit underwhelming on its own - there's no play area, no facilities - but it works well as a breather during a day out. Bring a thermos and some binoculars if you're into spotting birds; the harbour draws plenty of them.

The nearby holiday parks - West Sands and Stubcroft Farm are barely ten minutes away - make it easy to build this into a long weekend. Chichester itself has proper shops and restaurants if you need them, but honestly, this viewpoint is more about stepping out of the car and remembering why you came to Hampshire in the first place.
