Dyserth Waterfall

The waterfall drops about 70 feet into a rocky pool, and it's genuinely impressive after rain. You get there via a short walk through woodland from the village of Dyserth, near Rhyl - maybe fifteen minutes on foot if you're taking it easy. The path is straightforward enough, though it can be muddy and the final stretch has proper steps, so it's not one for very small children or anyone with mobility issues.

This is the kind of spot that rewards a bit of effort without demanding hours of your time. The water thunders down, especially in winter or after a downpour, and there's something satisfying about actually seeing water move like that - not just a trickle but real volume. The pool at the base is tempting on a warm day, though it's freezing and you'll want to be careful of the rocks.

It works brilliantly as a half-day addition to a park holiday in the area. Golden Sands Holiday Park is only a couple of miles away, as is Parkdean Resorts Ty Mawr, so you could easily combine it with a morning walk before heading back for lunch. The whole outing takes two hours maximum from the car park. Go when there's been rain - a dry spell makes it look rather underwhelming. Don't expect solitude on decent-weather weekends, but it's worth the short trip from wherever you're staying along the coast.
