Dunsinane Hill

The walk up Dunsinane Hill from Perth takes about forty minutes if you're reasonably fit, though the final push gets properly steep. It's not a quick tick-box visit - you need an hour at least, longer if you're actually interested in the archaeology.

There's no visitor centre or facilities at the summit, so bring water. The nearest town is Perth itself, which makes this an easy half-day add-on to a Perthshire holiday. If you're staying at Beech Hedge or South Valleyfield, you're within easy driving distance. The walk is free, and you can do it year-round, though winter can be muddy on the approach.
