The building itself is striking - modern, with proper windows that let you see the Tay while you're contemplating whatever's on show.

It's brilliant for adults who want an evening out with real culture attached. Theatre productions run regularly, and the programming leans experimental - you might catch anything from dance to multimedia installations. The café is decent enough for a pre-show drink, and the whole place has that creative buzz you only get in cities that actually invest in the arts. Kids could work here depending on what's on - some shows are family-friendly, others decidedly not, so check the schedule first.

Free admission to the galleries, though ticketed shows obviously cost. Plan two to three hours if you're catching a performance, or an hour or so for just browsing exhibitions. Open until midnight most nights, which is genuinely handy.

From Tayport itself it's close - perfect if you're based at Tayport Links or Larick Campsite and want an evening away from the caravan. Both sites are just over four miles out, making DCA an easy drive when you fancy something beyond the usual park entertainment. Winter's actually the better season here, when the programme tends to be strongest.
