Dun nam Muclach

The walk up Dun nam Muclach near Crianlarich is straightforward but the views halfway up make you forget about your aching legs. This isn't a mountain - it's more of a proper hill that rewards you for the effort without demanding mountaineering skills. You get decent Lowland views across to the Trossachs, and on a clear day the visibility is genuinely impressive for something so accessible.

It's roughly 45 minutes to the top if you're moving steadily, maybe an hour with kids or if you're the type who stops to photograph everything. The path is well-worn and obvious, which is helpful - no scrambling about trying to find the way. Strong walkers will find it almost too easy; families with primary school age children will find it just right. Teenagers might consider it a bit of a yawn unless you make it competitive.

Worth doing as part of a wider Glen Dochart loop if you're based at Tyndrum Holiday Park nearby. The walk takes maybe two to three hours total including the time at the top, and you can easily combine it with other local paths without overcommitting yourself. Go in the morning if possible - afternoon mist can roll in and spoil what's otherwise a proper cracker of a view. Free to walk, no facilities at the summit, so bring water. It's good exercise without being a full day's mission.
