Droitwich Lido Park

The old lido at Droitwich has been left to the elements, and nature's reclaimed it rather brilliantly. Where families once splashed about in the 1930s, you now find yourself walking through a proper wetland reserve - reed beds, open water, and the kind of bird life that makes ornithologists genuinely excited. It's less swimming pool, more wildlife sanctuary, though the bones of the original structure still peek through if you know where to look.

The reserve sits just outside Worcester, making it an easy detour if you're camping at one of the nearby sites like Mill House Caravan Site or Twin Oaks. The walking paths are straightforward enough for families, though younger kids might find it a bit quiet compared to an actual playground - you're here for birds and plants, not adrenaline. Spring and autumn are cracking times to visit when migrating species pass through.

Admission's typically free, which is the only sensible approach for a nature reserve, and you can usually wander the trails at your own pace. Allow an hour or so unless you're seriously into spotting. It's the sort of place that rewards a slower pace - bring binoculars, let the kids investigate the boardwalks, listen to the water.
