Walking into Dovehill Wood feels like stepping back in time. This Norfolk forest sits just east of the glamping hub, and it's exactly the sort of place where you can actually hear yourself think - no theme park crowds, no forced attractions. The woodland is genuine working forest, with proper old-growth trees and the kind of quietness that makes city visitors slightly uncomfortable at first.

You're looking at a solid hour's walk if you're taking it slow, longer if you're the type to stop and photograph every moss-covered stump. The paths are decent enough, though muddy in winter and genuinely boggy after rain. It's not a manicured heritage site - there's no visitor centre, no café, no interpretation boards. You get trees, undergrowth, and birdsong. Families with under-tens might find it a bit samey after forty minutes, but older kids and proper walkers will get genuine peace here.

The real appeal is how it complements a Norfolk break. You're based at Parkdean Resorts Manor Park or Wild Luxury just down the road, and this gives you a proper escape without driving anywhere. It works best in spring when the bluebells are out, or autumn when the light cuts through differently. Summer can feel claustrophobic with all the growth.
