Doggy Park

Near Preston, you'll find Doggy Park - a small, dedicated green space where dogs genuinely run the show. It's basically what it says on the tin: a park built around letting dogs off-lead to burn energy whilst their owners chat by the benches.

The setup is straightforward. There's a fenced area to keep the pups contained, some basic seating, and enough space for a proper run-around without feeling cramped. Grass, a few trees, and that's largely it. If your dog is social, they'll have a whale of a time. Shy dogs might find it overwhelming depending on how busy it gets.

This place works best for dog owners - obvious, really - and families with kids old enough to supervise themselves while adults focus on their pets. Solo walkers without dogs won't find much here beyond a quick stop. Dog enthusiasts who've driven up from further south sometimes pop in whilst holidaying at Brickhouse Caravan Park, just 4.5 miles away, though it's hardly a destination in itself.

Timing-wise, early morning or late afternoon tends quieter, which suits nervous dogs. Weather doesn't really stop anyone - Lancashire rain is just part of the bargain.

Is it worth the detour if you've got a dog? Yes, especially if you're staying nearby for a few days. Is it worth planning your entire visit around? Probably not. Think of it as a solid rest stop on a wider Lancashire tour rather than the main event.
