Derry’s Clock Tower

The Clock Tower sits bang in the middle of Derry, a modest village just outside Plymouth, and it's one of those places that catches you off-guard with how much character it's packed into a small space. Built in the Victorian era, the tower itself is the real draw here - a proper Victorian structure that dominates the village centre and houses a small museum inside documenting local life and the area's industrial past.

Once you climb up, the views across the Devon countryside are genuinely worth the effort. Families with younger children might find it a bit lean for a full afternoon, though teenagers with any curiosity about local history will find plenty to examine. The climb itself can be steep, so it's not ideal if you've got pushchairs in tow.
