Dane's Cast

Dane's Cast is an Iron Age hill fort that rises above the Armagh countryside near Markethill - the kind of place where you can actually feel the weight of two thousand years underfoot. It's not a manicured tourist site with interpretation boards and a café. What you get instead is the raw earthwork itself: a series of defensive ditches and ramparts that once enclosed a settlement, now softened by grass and time.

The walk up is manageable but not trivial.
