About Cromarty Harbour
There's no visitor attraction nonsense here - no gift shop, no entrance fee, just the real thing. The townscape around the harbour is handsome enough, with 18th-century buildings reflecting in the water on still days. If you're into maritime history or photography, you'll find plenty to keep you occupied for an hour or two. Kids might tire of it quicker unless they're genuinely interested in boats, which fair enough.
It works well as a half-day detour when you're exploring the Black Isle itself, or as a break from driving if you're heading up towards the Moray Firth. The walk from the car park to the harbour takes five minutes maximum. Go early morning if you want to catch the boats being worked, or late afternoon for better light on the water.
Neither Delny Glamping nor Newmore Highland Pods are far away, so it's perfectly feasible as a day activity if you're based in one of those. Weather can be bracing though - bring a proper jacket.
